Architects are often considered the ‘fountain of all ideas’ which is why, you as a potential Client might wonder where your own input into the project comes in?
Talking at a seminar on ‘ideas and design creativity’ – I once said, “I get some of my best ideas from my Clients…” this raised a little laugh, but struck a chord. Where else does the original inspiration for your own project come from?
A good architect
We come up with good ideas all the time and will do so for your Project. The art of architecture is in pulling together often disparate ideas, addressing a challenging site and ensuring that the environment-friendly goals we share are incorporated early in the process. A good Architect will mould these design influences in to a coherent whole and work with you to achieve your own project goals.
Practice philosophy
Our design influences are as wide and varied as the terrain on the sites we work with. Our Clients are consistently looking for four straightforward aspects to be incorporated in to the design and the process.
Form
the form, look and appearance of your building will be important, as will how it is shaped by and responds to the local micro climate. The form is determined by many factors and is arrived at through discussion, research and consultation with you.
Function
A building plan should be practical and flow easily - making it very comfortable and supporting your lifestyle or working day. This is part of the planning process that we work through.
Quality
You will expect this and will also accept that it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Literally and figuratively the quality you expect will enhance your use of the building and ensure it sits well in its environment.
Value
Design is all about added value. Great design will add value in efficient space planning, practical material use and the effective use of all our resources both natural and physical.
